The 10 Year Framework of Programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production Patterns (10YFP on SCP), adopted by the international community at the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20) in 2012, aims to support and scale up regional and national implementation of SCP with all relevant stakeholders.

Provide high-quality, relevant, and timely scientific and technical interdisciplinary advice on a range of strategic, thematic, and operational issues. Contribute to developing and implementing STAP’s annual work program, lead STAP’s work on biodiversity, and contribute to cross-cutting work. Deliver advisory reports, project reviews, and other advice as requested.

As Environment Specialist, you will provide technical inputs and analyses to the design, preparation, and implementation of lending and technical assistance operations in environment and natural resources, including terrestrial and marine resources and biodiversity management.

This is a fixed term appointment with option to renew for an initial period of 3 years following Section 3.1 (b) of Administrative Order No. 2.01 ("Recruitment and Appointment'). This appointment is not convertible to a regular appointment.

The Environment and Social (E&S) Development Specialist will provide guidance to clients, investment and advisory teams on E&S risk management vis-à-vis IFC Performance Standards and Sustainability Policy with the aim of promoting compliance with IFC’s performance standards and enhanced impact and additionality of IFC-supported investments and advisory mandates.

The primary responsibility of the Senior Agriculture Economist will be to provide technical and strategic leadership in the development and implementation of the AGF GP’s work program including the Food Systems Resilience Program (FSRP) and the Accelerating Impacts of CGIAR Climate Research for Africa (AICCRA) Project.

The purpose of this consultancy is to support ACPC in implementing support to member states in building resilience through integration of climate change in their policies, strategies, plans and actions, therefore, the consultant will lead and coordinate the development of a framework to support African countries to elaborate and communicate a new inclusive, ambitious and economy wide NDCs which are implementable and fundable.

As a result of the service, it is expected that a well-informed, feasible Project Document on NBSAP Acceleration and Implementation is aligned to the UNEP requirements, its Medium-Term Strategy (MTS) and the KM-GBF strategy and approved by UNEP’s Project Review Committee.

The Consultant will provide effective legal support to UNEA and its subsidiary bodies and attend all their meetings.
